Today, axies become the first-ever digital collectibles that evolve as you play with them.

How to Evolve your Axie Parts

Last week, we shared some information about materials, the Garuda Shrine Shop, and Consumables. Make sure you understand how these pieces work before jumping into full-fledged evolution! You can check out that announcement here. We’ve also increased the Axie level cap to 60, which allows anyone to evolve all six parts. Remember: you can evolve one new part every 10 levels. For example, that means your axie must reach Level 10 to evolve one part, Level 20 to evolve two parts, Level 30 to evolve three parts, and so on. Please note that axies will not be able to ascend past level 30 until later this week. Hopefully tomorrow.

Here’s what it takes to evolve your axies parts:

Note on breeding: Evolved parts cannot be passed onto the child. If you breed axies that have upgraded parts, the child will inherit the level 1 base parts of the parents. All breeding calculations remain the same.

Step 1: Find out what your axie needs to evolve 

This includes the type and amount of materials, an AXS fee, and the required Ascension level. Keep reading for more info.

Step 2: Get your axie ready for evolution

Secure the right materials, ascend your axie, and put aside some AXS for the evolution offering. 

Step 3: Go to Atia’s Flame on App.Axie

This is the easy part! Go to your inventory on App.Axie, select the axie you’d like to evolve, and click “Manage axie.”

Step 4: Click “Ready to Evolve”

Pay the AXS offering and necessary materials. Then, wait for your parts to evolve!

Bonus step: Evolution usually takes 4 days (96 hours), however if you place double the amount of materials in Atia’s flame, the evolution will take place instantly.

The Cost of Evolution: Materials, AXS, and Time

Evolution: the gradual development of something, often from a simple to a more complex form.

Evolution takes time and effort, but may be one of the most rewarding experiences you have with your axies. You’ll need materials, AXS, and time to make it happen. You’ll also need an ascended axie because axies can only evolve one part per ascension. For example, an axie can evolve one part at level 10, two parts at level 20, three parts at level 30, and so on. That means you’ll need to earn AXP and ascend your axie before heading to Atia’s Flame for an evolution.

Here’s how it works:

Materials (Memento) Cost

There’s only one way to evolve an axie: you must bring an offering of materials to Atia’s Flame on App.Axie. That’s because only Atia’s Flame can release the spirits trapped within. The table above shows how much it costs to evolve a single part: an axie’s first part evolution will cost 100 materials, while its sixth (and final) part evolution will cost 1013 materials. Make sure you have the right kind of materials: Beast parts require Beast Mementos, while Plant parts require Plant Mementos. That means a Level 1 Beast part requires 100 Beast Mementos to evolve – using 50 Beast Mementos and 50 Plant Mementos will not work.

AXS Cost

There is an AXS fee pegged to a USD value required to evolve an axie part. For example, an axie’s first part evolution will cost $2 USD in AXS, the second will cost $4 USD in AXS, and the third will cost $8 USD in AXS. We’ve pegged the fee to USD to prevent fluctuating AXS prices from becoming a barrier to evolution. 100% of each part evolution fee will go to the Axie Treasury. How long does an evolution take?

The evolution of an axie part takes 96 hours – or 4 days. This holds true for regular, collectible, and Mystic axies. However, players can pay a 200% fee in materials for an instant evolution. For example, if a normal evolution cost 100 materials + the AXS fee, its instant evolution would cost 200 materials + the AXS fee. Instant evolution might be an attractive option for players who want to evolve in the middle of an Origins Era or Season.

What do Radiant Spirit Shells do in Part Evolution?

We airdropped Radiant Spirit Shells to a few wallets in November without saying much and you’ve also been earning them via the Garuda Shrine Shop. 

Radiant Spirit Shells are formed when an axie’s spirit becomes trapped in a nugget of Radiant Gold. The enchanting nature of Radiant Spirit Shells make them a rare and valuable collectible in Lunacia. They are also necessary to evolve collectible axie parts. That means you’ll need a Radiant Spirit Shell to evolve Mystic, Japanese, Xmas, Summer, Shiny, and Agamogenesis parts.

Good news: there are three ways to acquire Radiant Spirit Shells.

Radiant Spirit Shells are an ERC-1155 tokens.

The Race to Evolution Challenge

What would an Axie launch be without some fierce and friendly competition? Introducing the Race to Evolution Challenge! Owners of the first 10,000 axies to evolve a part will have a chance to win one of five Origin axies and one of ten Radiant Spirit Shells. That means you’ll be eligible to win one of these prizes as soon as you evolve one part. But wait, there’s more!

The owner of the first axie to evolve all six of its parts will receive a Mystic axie.
