Sky Mavis is deploying a dedicated server for Axie esports while we work on scaling our primary game servers.
To support this roll out, we are committing 5,000 AXS ($145,450) from the play- to-earn allocation pool in prize money for community tournaments taking place this year.
We are accepting event proposals from July 15th - July 29th from community tournament organizers and will publish a schedule for the rest of the year, after approving select events.
Greetings, Lunacians!
Exciting times continue in the Axie Infinity world, as we continue to see unparalleled growth and many new faces enter the community.
That excitement has also translated to the Axie competitive scene. More community members have been stepping up to organize their own, grass-roots events; and similarly, we've had more requests for event sponsorship than ever before.
However, this amazing growth has created some new challenges when it comes to scaling our game servers. As a result, the challenge server that is usually available for scrimmages and tournament matches has been offline.
While our team of developers continue to work hard on scaling, we will also be deploying dedicated servers specifically for esports events over the next few months. This will ensure more stability for our tournament organizers, during these turbulent times of hyper-growth. We expect the challenge server to be back online like usual by the end of the year.
To support the roll out of this dedicated esports server, we are committing 5,000 AXS ($145,450) from the play-to-earn allocation pool in prize money for community tournaments taking place this year.
We have some big plans for 2022 and beyond when it comes to Axie esports and creator programs, but in the mean time we need more help from the community!
We need you to send us your event proposals for the rest of 2021 and make the strongest case possible as to why your event is worthy of some of this support!
Proposals will be accepted from:
July 15th, 2021 - July 29th, 2021
Proposed events must take place between:
August 6th, 2021 - November 30th, 2021
Event proposals should include:
Scheduling details like dates, times, number of days, duration.
Format details like: open vs invitational, bracket type, platform.
Prize pool request and distribution strategy.
Information on any other sponsors or event partners.
Logistical information about administration plan and event operations.
Broadcast plan, which languages, which channels, who's casting.
Viewership estimates, entry estimates, unique elements.
Marketing strategy, social media, how will people know about your event?
What are the key factors that will make your event successful?
What other events or tournaments have you successfully run in the past?
Other considerations:
Sometimes less is more; focus on short, executable events rather than long leagues.
Don't try to do too much with every event; focus on delivering the highest possible quality, instead of the largest possible scope.
You're welcome to submit multiple events or dates, but our goal is to spread the support to multiple organizers.
Date ranges are great! We will do our best to meet specific date requests where we can, but prepare to be flexible when it comes to scheduling!
Esports server limitations:
The esports server will require whitelisting to get access.
This means that for each tournament, we will require the event organizer to submit a finalized list of all participants and their Axie account email addresses no less than 24 hours before the event starts.
Failure to submit a full list of participants could result in some players not having access to the server.
Due to the manual nature of this whitelisting process, we encourage all tournament organizers to consider ways to limit the scope of their events by region, time zone, rating, or any other relevant metric.
Final Thoughts:
We will review all of the event proposals submitted by August 6th, 2021 with the goal of coming up with a master schedule for the next four months.
Our team is hoping to schedule about 10 events during this four month period, with the goal of spreading the AXS across multiple regions and skill-levels.
We're excited to hear from everyone in the Axie community that has been thinking about hosting a tournament this year and publish a clear schedule of events to come!
Of course, we won't be able to accommodate every proposal and want to remind everyone that there will be many more opportunities like this in the future.
Please don't be discouraged if we can't accommodate your event plans in this cycle. This is just the beginning of what we have in store, and we are excited to continue growing together. There is still so much more to come.
Remember- it's a marathon, not a sprint!

Oh, you made it all the way to the bottom? You must be awesome, you deserve a special leek!
Questions?
I suggest you cancel your plans for this e-sports tournament. Hosting an event while people are unhappy with the service would leave a bad taste in their mouths. I suggest you fix your servers first. Priorities.
