You're Invited: Season 5 Buy-In Brawl!
Introducing A New Axie Buy-In Tournament Format. First-come first-serve!
Key Points
We're introducing a buy-in Origins tournament with 512 slots available; 200 free-entry tickets have been allocated to the top players from Season 4, while the remaining 312 slots are open for buy-in with 1 AXS. Make sure to register ASAP as these slots are first-come-first-serve!
The two-day tournament, beginning on July 15th, will involve different stages of competition using different era runes and charms. The final eight will be live-streamed on July 16th on Twitch.
The prize pool, matched by the Axie team, will be distributed among the top eight competitors, with 10% being donated to the Axie Community Treasury. The tournament is aimed at boosting competitive play, creating a new source of utility for AXS, and gathering data for game balancing.
It’s time to introduce a new type of tournament to the Axie universe— an opportunity for any Lunacian to battle for glory and AXS!
On July 15th at 8 PM GMT+7 VN Time we’ll be hosting a buy-in Origins tournament.
Here’s how it works:
There are 512 slots open for this tournament.
200 free-entry tickets have been sent to the top 200 from Season 4’s Mystic Era through their in-game mailbox. The next 312 slots are open to anyone with a buy-in fee of 1 AXS. The Axie team will match the prize pool from buy-in funds to make the rewards even more juicy.
Reserve one of 312 buy-in slots here. Simply submit a support ticket and you’ll receive detailed instructions for how to proceed!
Each contestant will be given a ticket cosmetic in their Origins inventory to serve as a memento of their participation.
On July 15th at 8 PM GMT+7 VN Time, players will battle it out until we get to the top 64 with the following format:
Single elimination
BO3
Rare runes/charms. Unlimited axie pool.
That day, once the top 64 has been determined, the follow format will be adopted to reach the final 16:
Single elimination
BO3
Rare and epic runes/charms. Unlimited axie pool.
On Sunday, July 16th, we will determine a champion with this format:
Double elimination
BO5
All runes/charms unlocked
10 Axie pool (Top 16 players will submit prior to Day 2 start)
The final eight will be streamed on Twitch!
As you can see from the structure, another reason we’re hosting this tournament is to encourage some early theory crafting and for our balance team to get an early look at the meta before the season starts.
Additionally, there will be no balancing changes made until after the conclusion of the Buy-in Brawl. It is possible that there may not be any balancing changes made at all, depending on our observations. The current balancing policy follows the same framework that we’ve been using since Season 2.
We reserve the right to ban cards that have game-breaking bugs.
Prize Structure
Here’s how the prize structure will work:
1st place: 40% of the prize pool
2nd place: 20% of the prize pool
3rd place: 11% of the prize pool
4th place: 7% of the prize pool
5th place: 3% of the prize pool
6th place: 3% of the prize pool
7th place: 3% of the prize pool
8th place: 3% of the prize pool
10% of the prize pool will go to the Axie Community Treasury, this is a test of a new use case for the AXS token and a new source of funding the treasury.
Why?
With the success of the Atia Invitational we are doubling down on new tournament formats and invitation structures to continue boosting the competitive axie scene while introducing it to a new generation of aspiring Lunacian arena champions.
In addition, more competitive play immediately after the deployment of a balancing patch will give us more information to spot opportunities for balancing refinement before the season begins, leading to a more balanced and immersive game!
See you in the arena! ⚔️🛡️
