Earlier this year, we challenged Lunacian developers to build a public good that highlighted the Axie infinity Treasury. Today, we’re announcing the winners! Thank you to everyone who participated – and congratulations to our three champions Cyborg Lemur, Daniboo, and Howler! Your prizes are on their way, and we’ve shared links to your projects below. Nam Gloria Lunacia!
This hackathon was a joint effort between Town Builders, Sky Mavis team members, and the Axie Community. In this article, you’ll find an overview of each project, insights into our evolving Governance work, and descriptions of the winning projects. Let’s jump in!
The Top 3 AxieGov Hackathon Winners
1st Place: Cyborg Lemur
Prizes
• 1,500 AXS
• Direct mentorship from Sky Mavis Developers
• Access to Sky Mavis Partner RPC rate limit and API
Project Strengths
• Utility: easy-to-read displays of relevant Treasury metrics including combined AXS and WETH value in USD.
• Design: the dashboard shares some design similarities with App.axie, which makes it more user-friendly for our community
• Creativity: the axies jumping around in the background were a nice touch, and a timely addition after the recent launch of Axie Pals!
2nd Place: Daniboo
Prizes
• 525 AXS
• Community feature
• Special API rate limiting access
Project Strengths
• Advanced Insights: the separation of $AXS value coming from Ascension, Breeding, Part Evolution, and Runes and Charms Minting surfaces detailed metrics that are otherwise hard to find
• Engagement: the separate pages, zoomable charts, and shareable links empower users to engage with the dashboard rather than being read-only
• Onboarding: the Homepage overview provides users with a description of the Axie Treasury. This is helpful for newcomers and can be a useful refresher for veterans
3rd Place: Howler
Prizes
• 275 AXS
• Public shout-out
Project Strengths
• Efficiency: the initial prompt to enter a date range keeps queries efficient
• Precision: the ability to surface hourly data of various metrics enables a closer look into the Axie Treasury
• Clarity: raw data, no fluff
Congratulations to the runners-up — the Ronin Builders! Check out their dashboard here.
The Story of the AxieGov Hackathon
Over the past few years, Axie Governance has progressed on multiple fronts. For example, the Governance Portal and Axie Score have given every Lunacian a stronger voice in our digital nation. After laying this foundation, the Axie Town Builders felt it was time to unleash some of the individual talent bubbling beneath the surface of our community. That’s when the AxieGov Hackathon was born.
How do you empower Lunacian developers to build community tooling? At first, the Town Builders considered opening Request for Proposals (RFPs) to source ideas. However, that was too slow, too abstract. Hackathons are more in line with the Axie DNA: ship fast and iterate on feedback. As a result, the AxieGov Hackathon delivered usable Minimum Viable Products (MPVs) in a short period of time – with opportunities for community comments.
There were so many great submissions to the AxieGov Hackathon. Here’s how we chose the 3 winners above:
The Town Builders assembled a Dashboard Committee composed of (7) Lunacian contributors. These contributors oversaw the entire process from outlining the hackathon’s criteria to selecting the winner. Thank you to the committee below for your time and energy:
